Wilton Meadows’ resident physician Dr. Bulent Ozcakar and our new respiratory therapist Peter Lerman will be presenting.
Dr. Bulent Ozcakar is a graduate of Hacettepe University Medical school in Ankara, Turkey as well as the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology. Doctor Ozcakar’s research experience includes a postdoctoral research fellowship under Dr. Carlos Jimenez in Interventional Pulmonology and under Dr. Claudia Robertson at The Baylor College of Medicine in the neurosurgery intensive care unit. His research spans the topics of intrapleural catheter performance status and the neuroprotective effects of different interventions with traumatic brain injuries respectively. Published in the Annals of Oncology, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, PubMed, the Turkish Thoracic Journal, and the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery to name a few, Dr. Ozcakar is well versed in a strong collaborative effort as well as the one-to-one patience necessitated by primary care. Dr. Ozcakar is trilingual and speaks publicly on multiple topics including The Effects of Different Interventions for Smoking Cessation. Peter Lerman is a Registered Respiratory Therapist licensed in the States of New York and Connecticut. He is certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care. He is originally from New York City. Peter has experience working in critical care, trauma, long term acute and sub-acute care, rehabilitation, and with long term skilled nursing patients. He has worked at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut and Saint Barnabus Hospital in the Bronx. Also, under his scope of practice as a Respiratory Therapist, Peter worked in the Sleep Lab at Putnam Hospital performing sleep studies (PSG) and CPAP/BiPAP titration. Peter is a Certified Smoking Cessation Counsellor, a Certified COPD Educator and an American Heart Association CPR Instructor.
