Our physical, occupational, lymphedema, and speech therapies are available as outpatient services. Wilton Meadows is centrally located in Fairfield County, a ten-minute trip from neighboring Weston, Westport, and Ridgefield. Our outpatient therapies are a convenient alternative to therapy in a hospital setting.
Physical Therapy
Our team of licensed clinical physical therapists specializes in exercise and movement performance to help our residents improve their mobility and overcome barriers so they can regain their independence, surpass their level of prior strength and maintain their best quality of life possible.
Occupational Therapy
Wilton Meadows’ occupational therapists enable our residents to perform the functional activities most important for their life and lifestyle. Whether it’s climbing stairs, preparing a meal, or other important daily living activities, our OTs play a vital role in our client-centered rehab services.
Lymphedema Therapy
Our trained staff is certified and efficient in the treatment of lymphedema, which is caused by localized swelling due to fluid retention secondary to a compromised lymphatic system. Based on the level of pain and discomfort and the grade/level of the condition, our treatment focuses on light exercise, pneumatic compression, bandaging, and manual lymphatic drainage.
Speech Therapy
Treatment of speech, language, or swallowing difficulties due to stroke, brain injury, or other medical conditions is available at Wilton Meadows. Our licensed, certified speech pathologists work closely with residents and their families to meet their goals and achieve the best results.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Our residents who have experienced a heart attack, heart surgery, angioplasty, or heart failure benefit from our medically supervised program designed to improve their cardiovascular health. Our cardiac rehab program involves exercise training and support for lifestyle changes like eating a heart-healthy diet and smoking cessation.
Respiratory Therapy
Wilton Meadows provides advanced therapeutic treatment for our residents’ complex breathing and cardiopulmonary issues. In conjunction with your physician, our highly trained, licensed respiratory therapist recommends treatment for lung and breathing disorders based on each patient’s condition. We manage patients’ medication, ventilators, and artificial airway devices and determine optimum levels of oxygen and other gases.
Art Therapy
Wilton Meadows’ art therapists provide individual and group art therapy including memory care art therapy specific to the needs of our dementia and Alzheimer’s residents. Professional art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions and enhance socialization and memory retrieval skills.
