Meals on Wheels of Wilton, Inc., a not for profit organization, delivers meals to Wilton residents, regardless of age, who are home bound, frail elderly, disabled, have chronic illnesses or who are recovering from acute illnesses, surgery or childbirth. A nominal fee is charged for the meals, however, a scholarship program funded by donations to the organization’s annual appeal by Wilton residents, other organizations and local companies, is available for those unable to pay.
Volunteer drivers deliver meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. These dedicated, compassionate Wiltonians naturally form friendships with the clients and provide an extra set of eyes for the families. This is a huge comfort to family members especially those living far away.
For over fifteen years, Wilton Meadows Rehabilitation and Health Care Center has been generously lending the program help from its friendly staff particularly from the professional kitchen staff. The experienced chefs prepare the hot meals while cold meals are prepared jointly with the Meals On Wheels coordinator and the helpful kitchen team.
The coordinator accepts client referrals, organizes meals for the drivers to pick up and deliver, and communicates with and supports the clients in many different ways.
The dedicated Meals on Wheels of Wilton board members and drivers are all volunteers. Anyone interested in either a board position or becoming a volunteer driver, please contact Meals On Wheels of Wilton at Wiltonctmow@gmail.com or call (203) 762-0566.
