Assisted Living for Westport Families

Assisted Living for Westport Families

Westport families comparing assisted living usually have a decision to make that New Canaan and Ridgefield families do not: whether to stay near the shore or move inland.

The Greens at Cannondale is at 435 Danbury Road in Wilton, north of Westport on Route 33. It is a short drive, but the setting is genuinely different, and it is worth understanding that difference before you tour anywhere.

Westport is one of the areas our memory care programs are set up to serve, alongside Wilton and Norwalk, so families making this comparison are common here.

Inland instead of coastal

Wilton is quieter than Westport, and our campus covers eleven acres. The calm is the first thing many visitors mention. For some residents that is exactly the appeal. For others, particularly someone who has spent decades near the water and organizes their day around it, moving inland is a real loss.

We would rather you weigh that honestly at the start than discover it after a move. Come and walk the grounds before you decide. If the quiet suits your parent, it tends to suit them a great deal.

For residents living with memory impairment, our memory care programs are designed around a nurturing, secure environment. Ask us to show you exactly what that means in practice when you visit, including what access to outdoor space looks like day to day.

Getting here from Westport

Take Route 33 north out of Westport into Wilton, then join Route 7, also called Danbury Road. We share the campus with Wilton Meadows at 439 Danbury Road.

If family are travelling in to visit, Route 33 connects to I-95 at Exit 17 and to the Merritt Parkway at Exit 41, which makes directions simple to give over the phone from either road.

For families managing care from a distance

Two things tend to matter when adult children do not live locally.

The campus is straightforward to reach without a complicated final leg. And because short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing are on the same campus at Wilton Meadows, a family coordinating care from a distance is not dealing with separate organizations in different towns if needs change.

Frequently asked questions

How far is The Greens at Cannondale from Westport? We are in Wilton, north of Westport via Route 33. It is a short drive rather than a highway trip. Call 203.761.1191 and we will give you directions from your address.

My mother has lived near the water her whole life. Is an inland community a mistake? It depends entirely on the person, and we would rather say so than talk you into a tour. Some residents settle quickly into a quieter wooded setting; others miss the shore. Walk the grounds with her before deciding.
